Rev Dr Michael Jensen

Rector

Michael has been Rector of St Mark’s since 2013. Originally an English teacher, he taught Theology at Sydney’s Moore College. Michael likes to imagine himself one day getting fit, and loves British comedy and Eastern European food (cevapi, anyone?). Michael has written a number of books including ‘Between Tick and Tock’, ‘Is Forgiveness Really Free?’ and ‘My God, My God – Is it possible to believe anymore?’ He is married to Catherine and they have four children, a cocker spaniel and a domestic medium hair cat.

Michael says: “There’s never a dull day working at St Mark’s! To see people being transformed by the grace of God in Jesus is an immense joy and privilege. The challenge of living the Christian life in the Eastern Suburbs is not always easy, but it is such an encouragement to be part of a community that is aspiring to do this. St Mark’s is a beautiful church building, but the story of St Mark’s is about God’s work in the people who gather together week by week.”

Among other things, Michael is responsible for the vision of St Mark’s, for leading the staff team, and for the preaching programme.

Michael also conducts a number of ministries outside of St Mark’s and is on the board for Publica; produces the With All Due Respects podcast; and can often be seen on The Drum.
